Axtell puts together a full team effort in win over Clifton-Clyde.
Going into Friday's contest against Clifton-Clyde, Axtell knew they were going to have to put together a strong game plan to get past an Eagle team that were ready to play spoilers. Axtell would do just that in a 56-0 win. 343 yards of total offense, 5 rushing touchdowns and a staunch defense that held a usually potent Clifton-Clyde offense to just 135 total yards and earning two interceptions. Wyatt Detweiler delivered a nearly perfect passing night going 7 of 8 for 168 ya

Going into Friday night's game against Valley Heights, if you would have told the Doniphan West coaches they would hold their opponents to just two yards passing, they would have I'd bet they would have liked their chances. There have been, and will be going forward, better nights for the Valley Heights football team as they started the 2026 season with a 40-11 loss to a talented Salina-Sacred Heart team. Sit back because these numbers are absolutely bonkers. 979 total combined yards, 17 combined touchdowns and maybe the most impressive part, each team committed just 1 turnover.
